2024 Election
UPCOMING ELECTION DATES
Municipal Election Day: March 19, 2024 (Held concurrently with the Federal Presidential Preference Primary)
No election for Mayor or any seat shall be required in any election if there is only one (1) duly qualified candidate for Mayor or for any seat. At close of qualifying that candidate shall be considered elected by operation of law.
Run-Off Election: April 16, 2024 (if necessary)
Swearing-In: The term of office of all elected officials will commence at the next regularly scheduled Commission meeting following the day of the Run-off Election or, if there is no run-off election for any seat or for Mayor, at the next regularly scheduled Commission meeting after the General Election.
Terms of Office: Four-year Terms
Seats Up for Election - Mayor, Seats #2 and #3:
Mayor: Incumbent Kathy Stark
Seat #2: Incumbent Michael Satterfield
Seat #3: Incumbent Salvador Ramos
QUALIFICATIONS (Per Town of Oakland Charter Sec. 2.4 and Code Sec. 22-1 (d) and (f))
- Must be a qualified elector of the Town and have resided continuously in the Town for at least one (1) year preceding their qualifying date.
- A person may not be a candidate for mayor and commissioner in the same election.
QUALIFYING DATES (Per Resolution 2023-09)
Petition Qualifying - November 16, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. - December 1, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. - The petition process for qualifying by signature cards to be on the ballot for the Town's General Election on March 19, 2024, shall begin on November 16, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. and end on December 1, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The petition method of qualifying requires the candidates to obtain 100 petitions from registered voters in the Town of Oakland in lieu of paying a fee. Petitions are verified by the Supervisor of Elections office at the expense of the candidate. No petition cards may be collected prior to filing a statement of candidate and appointment of campaign treasurer and designation of campaign depository with the town clerk.
Fee Qualifying - December 4, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. - December 7, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. - The qualification process by paying a $100.00 qualifying fee plus a $5.99 state assessment fee to be on the ballot for the Town's General Election on March 19, 2024, shall begin on December 4, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. and end on December 7, 2023, at 3:00 p.m.

LOGIC AND ACCURACY TESTS
The Orange County Supervisor of Elections will conduct public, pre-election tests of the automatic tabulating equipment used at the polls on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The tests will be conducted in the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Warehouse, located at 119 West Kaley Street, Orlando, Florida, at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The tests are open to the public and you are welcome to attend.
