Solid Waste Advisory Committee

The current solid waste contract for the pickup and disposal of garbage, recycling, and yard waste will expire on January 31, 2022. Solid waste services are a core service of local municipalities and is one of those services that residents see and notice on a day to day basis. There are a number of different options, levels of service, and cost to consider when contemplating future solid waste services. There have also been changes within the solid waste industry and especially with recycling services.

The Town of Oakland is looking for up to 10 interested local residents to form a Solid Waste Advisory Committee. This committee will make recommendations to the Town Commission concerning future procurement of solid waste services. This committee will be considered a sunshine committee that will adhere to statutory regulations. This committee will be limited in scope and will be sunset in January of 2022.
