Stephen Koontz was named Town Manager of Oakland in 2018. He brings have two decades of local government experience, having worked for Orange County and Lake County, where he served as Budget Director and Assistant County Manager.
Koontz’s service with the Town of Oakland as Town Manager has been the most diverse and satisfying of his career with oversight and management of the Oakland Avenue Charter School, the Oakland Police Department, Planning and growth-related activities, Town administrative functions, and the water and wastewater utility.
Koontz also serves on the Oakland Nature Preserve and the Friends of Lake Apopka boards.
He is a lifelong resident of Central Florida, having grown up in Winter Park and graduating from Edgewater High School and raising his children in Clermont.
Koontz holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida.
