Tropical Storm Idalia

Sandbags
In preparation for Tropical Storm Idalia, sandbags will be available inside Town Hall, 230 N. Tubb Street, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, and will continue to be available as necessary and as supplies last.
A maximum of 10 bags will be available for each Town address during normal business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. The sandbags will be empty. The bag fill site is located at the northeast corner of S. Walker St. & W. Hull Ave.
The location will open at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 28, for those residents who do not have fill material. The fill site will be unmanned. Please bring your own shovel or trowel to fill your sandbags.

Trash Collection
The Town Public Works Department will be picking up small limbs and yard waste today through Tuesday afternoon, as conditions allow. Please place all yard waste out for pick-up by 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Waste Management will continue with normally scheduled trash pick-up, on Tuesday, August 29. We will update with any changes to Trash Collection services for Wednesday and Friday.
Town Operations
- Town Hall is currently operating under normal business hours, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The Oakland Nature Preserve is closing on Tuesday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. ONP will reopen once staff has assessed the property.
- The Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center is operating under normal business hours, Wednesday to Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Oakland Avenue Charter School
The Oakland Avenue Charter School will follow Orange County Schools decision regarding school closures. Reopening may follow a different schedule.
Orange County Public Schools
OCPS is monitoring conditions and will be open Tuesday, August 29, 2023. An update will be provided as information becomes available.
Shelters
Shelters in Orange County will open Tuesday, Aug. 29, by 1 p.m., for individuals needing to evacuate or seek shelter from Tropical Storm Idalia. ID cards are not required to enter shelters. All shelters are pet friendly.
