10/10/24 2:25 p.m. update
Town Operations
Town Hall will be closed through Friday, October 11, 2024.
- Oakland Police Department Admin Offices will be closed Thursday, October 10, 2024. In the event of an emergency, please call 911.
- Oakland Nature Preserve is closed until further notice, allowing time to clean-up major debris.
- Planning Contractor Wade Trim will be closed through Friday, October 11, 2024.
- Building Contractor - Willdan will be closed through Friday, October 11, 2024.
- Be Advised:
Governor Ron DeSantis has expanded the State of Emergency to include our county, which means all construction work must stop and all construction sites must be made secure to keep debris from flying our floating onto adjacent properties. There is a moratorium on all inspections and plan review services until further notice.
Park Closure Notice
All public parks, including Speer, Pollard, VanderLey, and Jake Voss Pier are closed until further notice. This closure also applies to the Tennis and Pickleball Courts.
Please be patient as crews work to clear debris and verify that all equipment is safe for use. We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates as soon as the parks are ready to reopen.
Debris Collection
As you begin clean-up, please keep vegetative debris separate from construction or household trash. Mixing them will delay your pick-up. The Town has contracted additional waste clean-up crews, but collection will take time. Your patience is appreciated!
Bag or place small debris (twigs, sticks, leaves) in a trash can.
Larger branches can be piled by the curb but NOT near storm drains, fire hydrants, power lines, or street signs. This makes it impossible to pick up!
Trash Collection
We will provide updates on post-storm collection as soon as we have more information.
Sand Bags
Dispose of the sand in your yard or gardens. For empty sandbags, place them in your trash can for pickup.
Traffic Lights
Per Orange County: If you are on the road, you are urged to drive with caution. The County is still experiencing wind and rain. If you approach an intersection and see the traffic signal is not functioning normally, follow these rules: bit.ly/3fQ7GFY. - Light Out: Treat like a 4-way stop
- Flashing Red: Treat like a stop sign
- Flashing Yellow: Slow down and use extreme caution
