[ARCHIVED] Oakland celebrates its 135th anniversary

135th Anniversary

The Oakland Town Commission and the West Orange Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors celebrated the 135-year anniversary of the Town of Oakland. The office of Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings proclaimed Dec. 13, 2022 as Town of Oakland Day in Orange County.

135th Anniversary

A day spent in the Town will take you back in time to the old, quaint Florida of yesterday - even as new residents begin to discover what just a few have known for generations.

Established in 1887, it is one of the oldest municipalities in Orange County. Oakland is a diverse, thriving and growing small community noted for its laid-back lifestyle and majestic oak trees. It operates under a Commission/Manager form of local government with a Mayor, Kathy Stark, and four Commissioners elected at-large.
