[ARCHIVED] Oakland Heritage Day returns in 2024

Oakland Heritage Day

Oakland Heritage Day, honored with a statewide award from Florida Festivals & Events, is presented by Orlando Health in collaboration with Healthy West Orange and the Oakland Nature Preserve, makes a return to commemorate the vibrant life and rich culture of Oakland.

The festival celebrates Oakland’s small-town charm, unique history, nature, wellness and the arts with a family-friendly day of live music, food trucks, fine arts and crafts, quality vendors, interactive kids’ activities, and more.

It will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Historic downtown Oakland.

Speer Park 

    Sean Holcomb, named the “Best Country Act '' in Orlando Weekly ‘s “Best of Orlando,” in 2023 will be headlining the festival with with an additional performance by Nicole Equreme, a folk  multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter. 

    Food trucks including burgers, bbq, and more; sweet treats and beer and wine by West Orange Creamery. 

    Historic Florida section sponsored by Oakland Nature Preserve featuring animal ambassadors and a silent auction benefitting the Preserve.

    A presentation from Oakland Nature Preserve featuring snakes, and exotic reptile encounters. 

    Over 100 Arts & Crafts Vendors curated by Orange Blossom Market featuring handmade and homemade decor, specialty foods and more!

Healthy West Orange Arts & Heritage Center

    Westly's 7th Annual Virtual 5K In-Person Event kicks off from the Healthy West Orange Arts and Heritage Center at 9:30 a.m. and continues to the Healthy West Orange Fresh Start Zone at Speer Park. Register here: https://healthywestorange.org/seventh-annual-virtual-5k/

    The Orlando Youth Chamber Ensemble will perform on the Center porch from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

    Participate in a History Harvest by bringing historic items relating to Oakland to be donated, loaned or scanned at the Center. 

    The Center’s art and history exhibit will celebrate African American heritage with our Black History & Art Exhibit

Parking 

  Guests and runners can park at Family Church at 200 S. Tubb Street 

  At the grassy lot on W. Petris Ave. & N. Cross Street 

  Around Speer Park via Daniels Street

  Street Parking is allowed. Please do not block hydrants or driveways. 

  Accessible Parking is available on N Tubb Street, as available. Handicapped drivers are able to cross the roadblock with a valid tag.
