Tropical Storm Milton

10/7/24 2:03 p.m. update

Sand Bags

Available starting Monday, October 7, 2024 and Tuesday, October 8, 2024 |  8 a.m. - 5 p.m. as supplies last. 

In preparation for heavy rains, sandbags are available for Oakland residents to help protect your homes. 

10 bags, per household. Please bring a photo ID. 

Pick-up Location: Town Hall: 230 N. Tubb St.

Town Operations

Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 and Thursday, October 10, 2024. 

  • The Town Commission Meeting will meet on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Oakland Meeting Hall
  • The Oakland Farmers Market is cancelled on Thursday, October 10, 2024

Oakland Avenue Charter School

Following OCPS, OACS will be closed for teachers and students on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, October 10. 

Trash Collection

Trash will be collected as regularly scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday, October 7th. Please place your household trash in a container by the curb by 6 a.m. 

Important: To keep things running smoothly:

- No additional debris or items should be added to the curb.

We’ll provide an update on Wednesday's recycling as soon as we know more. Stay tuned for further updates! 

Debris Collection

Public Works has been hard at work collecting debris throughout the morning. We’re doing our best to clear as much as possible, but we kindly ask residents to avoid placing any new debris by the curb at this time.

Orange County Schools

OCPS will be closed for teachers and students on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, October 10. 

Oakland Nature Preserve 

Will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, October 10. ONP will reopen. ONP will reopen once damages are fully assessed and it's safe to welcome everyone back.

Yes. Residents on Town Water Services will have water. In the event of a power outage, the Town has generators to operate the water plant. Residents on a private well should have bottled water.
