Join the Town of Oakland Charter Review Committee
The Town of Oakland Charter states that “a) At least every ten (10) years, the Commission shall appoint and fund a Charter Revision Committee and b) The Committee shall consist of five (5) persons. Each Commission member shall make one (1) appointment.” Some Town Commission members may already have a resident in mind to appoint to one of the five positions on the Charter Review Committee, while others might prefer to review resident applications before making their decision.
For this reason, the Town of Oakland is seeking dedicated residents who would be interested in serving on the Charter Review Committee. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in reviewing and recommending updates to the Town’s foundational document, ensuring it reflects our community’s needs and values.
Eligibility:
Applicants must be residents of the Town of Oakland and committed to attending regular meetings and contributing to the review process. These are limited duration appointments serving during the Charter Review process which will occur from January through October 2025 and Charter Review Committee members may be required to attend weekly or monthly meetings so having a flexible schedule is important.
How to Apply: Submit your application by e-mail to ehui@oaklandfl.gov or in person at Town Hall by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025. Click here for the application.
