[ARCHIVED] Hydrant Flushing

Hydrant Flushing (2)

The Town of Oakland Public Works Department is continuing its hydrant-flushing and valve exercising program. This is an ongoing maintenance program to ensure we are delivering the highest quality, and quantity, of water to the customer.

The work will be performed between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. within the Oakland Trails neighborhood.

This is an exercise mandated by the Department of Environmental Protection, which all public-owned water systems must undertake.  Your water service may be interrupted for a short period, and residents may experience some discoloration of their water.  This is expected and a normal occurrence when existing water mains are disturbed.

The water discoloration poses no health hazard, but residents should refrain from the consumption of the discolored water. If you experience discoloration, please allow the water to run from your cold water tap until it clears. Do not use the hot water tap until the water has cleared. Caution should be used when washing clothing.

If you have any questions regarding this program, call (407) 656-1117 x2304 during normal business hours.

The Town of Oakland apologizes for any inconvenience during this time and appreciates your cooperation.
